The view of the Porto Metropolitan Area in environment and sustainability in cities has led to the participation in the project EU CO2 80/50, able to identify concrete local actions to address climate change, therefore enhancing the active position of the metropolis in the context of reduction of emissions to meet the Kyoto limits.

The inventory presented allows the identification of the total emissions in the region, such as their breakdown by the different sectors under review. A clear definition of the origin of the emissions allows for an emission reduction strategy based on the characterization of each sector and the various strategic options.
